Innovation and Realism in LITHOPROBE's Approach |
|
- Contracting with industry for acquisition of seismic reflection
and magnetotelluric (electromagnetic) data to take advantage
of the latest technology
- Successful encouragement of petroleum industry to record
data for longer traveltimes and the donation of such
data to LITHOPROBE
- Establishment of LITHOPROBE Seismic Processing Facility
(U. of Calgary) with a network of 8 remote Seismic Research
Nodes to provide a national capability
- Internal NSERC-style University Supporting Geocscience Projects
competition to ensure the best and most relevant science
is carried out
- Approximately 20-25% of the annual LITHOPROBE budget goes
to Supporting Geoscience Projects
- Cost sharing with industry the acquisition costs of new,
state-of-the-art aeromagnetic data
- Promotion and facilitation of the availability of a common
software package for scientists in electromagnetic studies
