Scientists
working within the LITHOPROBE project carry out research at
many locations across Canada. The philosophy behind LITHOPROBE
is to focus research on regions chosen for geologic, historical,
economic, and societal reasons. By concentrating multidisciplinary
studies on specific regions, a far more complete understanding
of the earth is obtained.
Transects: The study areas are called transects. LITHOPROBE has coordinated 10
transects that span much of the Canadian landmass. These are outlined by the
boxes in the map below.
